Our products are S.T.A and Cal-Trans Certified. Soil Amendments 1. General Purpose Mulch • Particle size = 0 – ½ inch • Less than 1% Nitrogen • General Purpose Mulch is a general soil amendment to be incorporated (rototilled) into the soil prior to planning and/or to be used as a back fill material. We recommend using 15% to 20% mixture by volume, standard pre-plant fertilizer such as a 16-20-0 to supplement nutrient requirements. 2. Nitrolized Fir • Particle size = 0 - 5/8 inch • Nitrogen stabilized wood amendment (derived from fir) • Nitrolized Fir can be used as a backfill for plants and shrubs and also as a general soil amendment for soil preparation (more inert products) if planting sensitive plants, shrubs, or bare root stock. 3. Redwood – Plain or Nitrolized • Particle size = 0 – 3/8 inch or 0 – ½ inch • Nitrolized or Plain • Redwood can be used as a general wood amendment or backfill for plants and shrubs. General advantage is that Redwood has a longer life and is more resistant to decomposition than fir or cedar-based wood products. 4. GPS 1 (General Purpose Soil Amendment #1) • Aguinaga’s special blend: o General Purpose Mulch o Recycled Green Matter o Turf Plus o Gypsum • The blending of these three products has brought forth an excellent balanced planting Soil Amendment that has a multiplicity of uses throughout the garden area, regardless of soil texture. Sandy soil can now retain moisture; clay soil will have improved drainage and aeration. The addition of Turf Plus improves the nutrient levels in the product and adds organic nitrogen for long term, slow-release microbial activity. The improved levels of soil bacteria greatly enhance root development and stimulate plant growth. • Note o Nitrogen = Adequate o Phosphorous = Adequate o Potassium = High to Optimum o pH = 6.4 – 6.9 = 6.65 average o E.C.E. = 2.59 – 3.33 = 2.96 average o Particle size = 0 – ½ inch o Nitrolized and stabilized o Fully composted 5. GPS 2 (General Purpose Soil Amendment #2) • Aguinaga special blend: o General Purpose Mulch ♣ Nitrogen – less than 1% (stable); will not create nitrogen drag ♣ Potassium – provides adequate levels ♣ Particle size = 0 – ½ inch ♣ pH = 6.9 -6.4 = 6.65 average ♣ E.C.E. = 1.8-3.6 = 2.7 average o Recycled Green Matter ♣ Nitrogen – approximately 1.5% (stable); no nitrogen drag ♣ Phosphorus – adequate for planting ♣ Potassium – Levels are HIGH to OPTIMUM, therefore a supplement of potassium will not be required for 90 days ♣ Nitrolized and Stabilized ♣ Fully Composted o The blending of these two soil amendments has produced an excellent General Purpose Soil Amendment (GPS-2) that can be used as an appropriate back fill material for planting shrubs and plants and/or to roto-till into the soil as a general soil amendment. GPS-2 achieves improved soil moisture in sandy soils and alleviates compaction in clay soils. o When backfilling or roto-tilling we recommend a 15% to 20% mixture by volume, along with an application of a pre-plant fertilizer such as 16-20-0 for additional nutrient supplement. 6. GPS 3 (General Purpose Soil Amendment #3) • Aguinaga Special Blend o Nitrogen – less than 1% (stable); will not create nitrogen drag o Potassium – provides adequate levels (high to optimum) o Particle size – 0 – 3/8 inch o Nitrolized and stabilized o Fully composted o Retains moisture o Excellent organic amendment content for mulching and backfilling o Good uniformity o Highly recommended on budding area o Curtails weed germination o The fine screening of this material has produced an excellent amendment for sandy soils. GPS-3 improves soil moisture in sandy soils and helps hold moisture within the plant root zone. o Note: Do not add potassium as a pre-plant when using GPS-3; the potassium levels are already high to optimum. We recommend using 16-20-0 if a pre-plant is required. Top Soils 7. Arizona Walk-On Bark • Shredded Fir Bark • Size ½ inch – 4 inch for weed control and moisture retention • Soft texture, reddish brown • Excellent appeal 15. Gorilla Hair • Shredded Bark (Stringy) Redwood or Cedar • Soft texture, reddish brown • Uniform size, good for moisture retention, great aesthetic appeal. Excellent as a cover for indoor plants and atriums 16. Redwood Shavings • Ground Redwood 5/8 inch minus • Size 0 inch – 5/8 inch • Good color, soft texture, eventually decomposes into soil, weed control, moisture retention 17. Forest Floor® (½ inch – 1½ inch) • Shredded tree trimmings and plant material (native to area) • Recycled, ground and screened to specification ½ inch – 1½ inch in size • Economical (budget priced) • Nitrogen Stabilized • All Forest Floor® products have excellent moisture retention capabilities and aid in weed control. Organic levels are good and provide excellent source of nutrients. Top Dressing – Seed Cover Products The following products have been designed to be used primarily as seed covers. In many applications these products can also be used as mulches, planting mediums and backfill amendments. The uniform particle size of these composted products will substantially enhance residual capabilities in the soil, and replenish organic matter levels. Aeration and drainage will be greatly enhanced and this creates yet another vital level of plant nutrition and stability. All these products are available on request with Gypsum for soil aeration. A nutrient Package for balance application is also available. 22. GPS Seed Topper • Nitrogen stabilized wood amendment • 0 – 3 inch particle size – uniform • Excellent seed topper, ground cover and general planting medium 23. Athletic Field Mix • Nitrogen stabilized top dressing • 0 – ¼ inch particle size (uniform) • Excellent as a seed topper, or general top dressing. Ideal for turf aeration, moisture retention and root development 24. CDC Mix • Nitrogen stabilized top dressing • 0 – ¼ inch particle size uniform • Combination of organic amendments and quality sand Specialty Products – 100% organic 25. Organic Plus for Turf Applications • Specialty fertilizer • Weed-seed free • Odorless (odor biologically controlled) • Fully composted • Bacterial • Organic matter • Guaranteed analysis 1.5 – 4 – 2 • Promoted better root structure • Recommendations for turf applications: 1-2 tons per acre • Organic Plus for Turf Applications is an all organic product comprised of 100% composted chicken manure. The transformation of chicken manure in Organic Plus brings forth a uniquely different concept in organic applications to turf. Organic Plus in the transformation is a truly composted organic product. It is odorless and weed-seed free. Organic Plus is an extremely beneficial product to turf programs when combined with commercial fertilizer applications. • Organic Plus can substantially reduce the amount of soluble commercial fertilizer that would normally be required in a calendar year. The cross-section or micro-nutrients coupled with a stable N.P.K. level allows slow long-term release of nutrients, increasing levels of microbial activity. This introduction of bacteria in Organic Plus is yet another benefit contributed to the soil and turf. The percentage of organic matter is this product helps hold soil moisture in sandy soils and allows improved drainage in clay soils. Canning Mix • GPS-2 mulch • Aguinaga Base Product (Redwood, Sand, Peat Moss, Pearlite) • Fill soil • Pre-plant nutrients • The blending of the above products makes an excellent planting medium for one, five, and 15 gallon containers. The pre-plant fertilizer supplied in this mix eliminates the need for any additional fertilizer for the first 30 days. This canning mix is well balanced. 30. Tree Box Mix • GPS-2 mulch • Aguinaga Base Product (Redwood, Sand, Peat Moss, Pearlite) • Fill soil • Pre-plant fertilizer • The blending of the above products makes an excellent planting medium for 24 inch, 48 inch and 60 inch box trees. Nevada Mix is a specially formulated organic product that is extremely versatile in a wide range of applications. Its unique blend and particle size allows Nevada Mix to be used as a top dressing for lawns, shrubs and flowers, from the heartiest of plants and flowers to the most sensitive color program imaginable. • The special blend of organic products in Nevada Mix allows for a multiplicity of benefits to both plants and soil. Nevada Mix provides substantial levels or organic matter which is important for control of nutrients and soil structure. In sandy soil, moisture retention is greatly increased, while in clay soils drainage is dramatically improved.
